Top 25 Wedding Movies

25Betsy’s Wedding
Directed by Alan Alda and co-starring Molly Ringwald, Ally Sheedy, Madeline Kahn, Joey Bishop, Joe Pesci, Anthony LaPaglia, Burt Young and Catherine O’Hara. This quirky romantic comedy was inspired by the marriage of Alda’s youngest daughter.

The plot involves offbeat fashion student Betsy Hopper and her straight-laced investment-banker fiancé, Dylan Walsh, just want an intimate little wedding reception, but Betsy’s father, Eddie, a Long Island construction contractor, feels so threatened by Jake’s rich WASP parents that he blows the ceremony up into a bank-breaking showpiece, sending his wife, Lola, into a financial panic…

24The In-Laws
Directed by Andrew Fleming and starring Albert Brooks, Michael Douglas, Ryan Reynolds, Lindsay Sloane, and Michael Bodnar. This breezy remake of the 1979 original offers a few solid laughs.

It’s blessed by the casting of Albert Brooks as one of two imminent fathers-in-law who embark on the proverbial “wacky misadventure” on the eve of a lavish family wedding.

The veteran comedian plays a podiatrist and Michael Douglas is a deep-cover agent for the CIA, unbeknownst to Brooks or his daughter, who’s about to marry Douglas’s son–an event also attended by Douglas’s ex-wife (Candice Bergen), who remains spiteful despite her newfound Buddhist enlightenment.

As an arms dealer targeted by Douglas’s latest covert operation, David Suchet matches Brooks laugh-for-laugh in the movie’s funniest scenes…

22Three Men and a Little Lady
The comic hijinks of Tom Selleck, Steve Guttenberg, and Ted Danson — three carefree bachelors turned doting dads – delighted audiences in the #1 box office smash Three Men and a Baby.

In this 1990 sequel, the handsome threesome is back and the hilarity soars to new heights as the trio continues to bring up baby Mary, who is now an adorably curious 5-year-old. All is well until Mary’s mother accepts a marriage proposal and permanently relocates to England – taking Mary with her!

The ex-dads quickly discover how empty life is without their little lady, and go to outrageous lengths in their efforts to win her back!

21The Bachelor
The Bachelor is a 1999 romantic comedy directed by Gary Sinyor and starring Chris O’Donnell as Jimmie Shannon and Renée Zellweger as Anne Arden.

The movie is a remake of a 1925 film, Seven Chances. You might recall the commercials for this one – where Chris O’Donnell is chased by hundreds of women dressed in bridal gowns through the streets of the city.

Jimmie (played by Chris O’Donnell) is seeing his single friends get married one by one. He isn’t too worried until his girlfriend Anne (played by Renée Zellweger) catches the bouquet at his friend Marco’s wedding. Suddenly, his wild mustang days are numbered.

He finally decides to propose to her, but he sticks his foot in his mouth and botches the proposal. Being insulted by the defeatist proposal, Anne leaves town on an assignment.

After she’s gone, he finds out that his recently-deceased grandfather’s will stipulates that he gets nothing of a multi-million dollar fortune unless he’s married by 6:05pm on his 30th birthday: tomorrow!

Not being able to find Anne, Jimmie begins backtracking through his past girlfriends to find a wife.
