Do you know what to ask?

I know it’s easy to get caught up on the glitz and glam of selecting a wedding reception venue.

Trust me! You see a space, you fall in love, end of story, right?!!

Wrong! There are so many things to think about when selecting the perfect reception venue for your wedding day!

Like making sure that the venue you choose really does meet all (or most) of your needs and wants.

Here are some questions you might consider asking a potential wedding reception venue.

To Help You Find the Right Venue, Ask

  • What is the maximum and maximum number of guests that can fit in the space (seated or cocktail)?
  • Do they have any preferred vendors or vendors that you must use?
  • What time will the venue be open for setup on the wedding day?
  • What time do you need to be out of the venue after the reception is over?
  • What restrictions does the venue have? Candles? Entertainment?
  • What other fees should you be aware of? Security? Cleaning? Parking?
  • Will you have a dedicated person on site that day for questions/issues?
  • Does the venue have a food and beverage minimum that you need to meet?
  • What forms of payment does the venue accept?
  • What is the cancellation policy?

Take these questions into serious consideration before even thinking about booking a venue. Don’t get yourself in sticky situation or with a venue that can’t meet of your needs and wants. For example, you might not want to book a venue if they don’t allow candles, but you’re planning to have dozens of candles lining the room! I’m just saying.

In short, know what you’re getting yourself into! READ THE CONTRACTS and read them thoroughly before you sign on the line and be sure to pay special attention to the terms and conditions! You’ll be happy you did in the long run and so will all your wedding vendors!

Cheers!
