We’ve all been to dozens, and if you’re close to THAT many people, maybe even hundreds of weddings in our lifetime. Most of us have seen it all, the standard reception venue with white linen, centerpieces, cake and so on. If you’re looking for a little uniqueness in your wedding reception, why not spice it up a bit with some extra fabulous lighting from a professional lighting company here in St. Louis. We have lots, so don’t be shy! We all have some faves!
Contrary to popular belief, lighting is not as expensive as you may think. I’m serious. It all depends on your budget. Share that with most companies and they will find something they have that works within it. Just be upfront and honest with whoever is handling your wedding, including your wedding planner!
If you’re considering that extra fabulous lighting I mentioned earlier, here are some lighting options you may want to look into so you have an idea of what you want.
- Uplighting. If you can’t guess by the name, uplighting starts from the ground and works its way up. In other words, light fixtures are set on the ground (normally against a wall) and face them up toward the ceiling. This creates a really awesome lighting effect on walls, columns, etc.
- Pin Spotting. Think of shining a single spot light on one small item (or several) at your wedding reception. Pin spotting is a great way to highlight your centerpieces or even your amazing wedding cake. And again, it adds that little bit of pop we were just talking about!
- Monograms. Yeah I said it…monograms. These are becoming more and more popular for wedding receptions and not just for the top of your cake. Monograms can be shown on walls, dance floors, drapes and just about anything in between, just remember to think logically here.
- Lighted Tables or Pedestals. If you’re really ambitious and outgoing you can you look into a more recent lighting concept of lighted tables or pedestals. These are a very unique way to bring color to a room or even a single table, bringing attention to one location, hint hint head table!
- Color, Color, Color. Mental note for you to keep on all of the above…when we talk about lighting, remember we are not just talking about white lights here. Think outside of the box and think colorful. If you’d like to accent your venue with violet lighting, then do it! No one will forget it!
As I always say, a little bit of lighting goes a long way! Okay, well that’s the first time I’ve actually said it in a blog post, but boy do I mean it! Lighting is an inexpensive way to add a nice pop of color to a room! Think creatively and find a company that can bring those visions to life!
Happy lighting! Cheers!
