Having Fun while Honeymooning on a Budget

Less attention and preparation is often given to the honeymoon as more money needs to go into the weddings.

It is no secret that weddings can often cost a fortune, which makes it considerably harder to have a great honeymoon on the money that’s left after the wedding.

Many newlyweds thus panic at the idea that they will not be able to have the dream honeymoon they’ve always dreamt about.

Such reactions are quite unnecessary though as it is still possible to have a great honeymoon on a budget. The key to doing so is to keep some considerations in mind when planning for your honeymoon.

Honeymoon Budgeting Tips

Choose a cheap destination

The destination is often the single factor that can make your honeymoon extremely expensive. Popular honeymoon spots like the Bahamas or the Seychelles islands are obviously very expensive. However, there are tons of destinations that are quite romantic and will enable you to have a great time while spending only a portion of the budget you would need for a top hotspot. For example, if your dream always was to have your honeymoon in the Indian Ocean, you can simply head over to the island of Reunion. While it is without doubt less exciting than Seychelles, it will still provide a truly memorable destination.

Look for bundles

Booking everything separately is often a poor idea as there is a definite possibility that you may later have to add unforeseen costs. Unfortunately, many couples still make the same mistake. While booking your flight, accommodation, and other services separately often sounds practical, it can often lead to a mess in your budget. It is almost always cheaper to go for a bundle that will include everything and that will thus allow you to spend less for pretty much the same thing. All inclusive bundles are of course even cheaper.

Travel during off-peak season

A quite straightforward way to keep your honeymoon budget to a minimum involves traveling during the off-peak season which makes the trip considerably cheaper. One misconception many people have about other countries is that the off-peak season always coincides with poor weather. This is however not the case as there are many destinations that have good weather all year round.

In other cases, the off-peak season may change during a particular year due to special events. In these cases, the off-peak season may suddenly switch to just after that event as most people will want to visit the place at the time of the event. If you have absolutely no interest in it, you can thus time your honeymoon so that you will be able to enjoy the lower prices that will no doubt appear once most visitors have gone back to their respective countries.

Be aware of special offers

Special offers are an extremely easy way to lower your honeymoon budget but they do require you to do your research. Even top destinations like Mauritius, which rely a lot on their tourism industry, regularly have unique offers to attract more visitors to the island (this is also an effective way for them to guarantee repeat visitors). You can also find these special offers from travel agents, but bear in mind that you may often find even better deals elsewhere on the web.
