When thinking Spring, one thinks of fresh, clean, bright colors and a new beginning.
Not much different from a wedding. And this spring is no different. When selecting Bridal makeup it is important not to stray too far from your comfort zone.
The four Spring wedding palettes below accentuate all eye colors and can be modified to fit each bride’s needs. Please note to fill-in brows and apply foundation, concealer, and bronzer in all looks.
Minimalist (neutral, any eye color)Sweep a neutral taupe on the lid and crease, then line the top of the lashes with liquid gel liner, (love Bobbi Brown Cosmetics – Long Wear Gel Eyeliner in Black Ink).
Optional: Lightly line the bottom lashes and soften the line with a blender.
Finish the eye with black mascara on top and bottom lashes.
Apply a neutral pink blush to the apple of the cheeks with a round blush brush. For lips, try a nude lipstick or a clear gloss to enhance the natural lip and add shine.
Tip: If the lid is wider than the height of the eye opening, only line the top lashes to open the eye.
Fashionista (brown or purple bring out the true color of blue eyes)
For this look, I recommend a palette like Estee Lauder’s Wild Violet. Brush medium brown shadow on lid, then with a deep purple shadow start at the corner of the eye, draw a ” < ” into the crease and down under the eye, just below lashes. Highlight the brow bone with a light beige shimmer shadow, line eyes with either a dark brown shadow or a dark brown pencil and apply mascara to both top and bottom lashes.
Cheeks should be a neutral bronzer or a just a kiss of peach blush use a round blush brush. Bright berry lipstick and/or matching gloss on the lips, this will help balance out the eyes.
Tip: For a quick lift of the lashes after a long day has pulled them down, re-applying mascara can make them look spidery. Instead, use an eyelash curler to brighten up the eye again.
Trendsetter (green eyes)
Apply a light pink or light beige shadow to the lid, and blend a deep brown shadow into the crease (I would recommend Clinique’s Colour Surge Eye Shadow Duo in Strawberry Fudge or Twice the Spice). Line eyes with a dark brown pencil and smudge with a blender brush to create a slight smoky look. Apply mascara top lashes only. On cheeks, sweep a pinkish brown blush just to outside of cheek using a flat top blush bush. Lips should be soft neutral pink lipstick. (a nude lip is the trend this year!)
Tip: When lining the eye, pull up on the middle of the brow while holding the liner on angle, then draw from inside corner to outside corner.
Glamourous (neutrals or greens work well on brown-eyed girls)
Sweep a shimmering shell shadow across lid and past crease. Optional: dark brown shadow blended at the outside corners of the eye). Line eye with a dark brown liner on top and bottom lashes and apply mascara on both. Lightly dust apples of cheeks with a peach blush, using a round blush brush. Line lips with a neutral/nude lip liner and apply a warm champagne lip gloss like Victoria’s Secret Sparkling Lip Gloss in Glamour.
Tip: Everyday must-haves include brow liner, concealer, mineral powder foundation, bronzer, mascara, and clear gloss. If you are in hurry, these six items can complete a face in no time!
